Kromek, the County Durham-based developer of radiation and automated biological pathogen detectors, will be exhibiting at the annual Home Office Security & Policing+ Global Security Event at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, 14th-16th March 2023 on Stand D65 next to the Government Zone.

Globally, the probability of a radiological or nuclear (R&N) event occurring is increasing. Past nuclear disasters such as Fukushima and Chernobyl demonstrate the cascade of short and long-term consequences that occur when decision-makers act reactively without up-to-date data. These incidents quickly spiral out of control without the necessary strategies or technology to manage them. This is especially significant with lots of international borders in proximity.

Pioneering work being championed here in the Northeast by Kromek, Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (“Newcastle Hospitals”), the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and University College London, made TV headlines this week after a further £2.5m of funding was awarded from the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK.
