Utility Gamma Imager

The high-utility keV-526 is a scalable and fully-packaged gamma imaging system, providing measuring capabilities flexible to the needs of different applications

The keV-526 is a high utility, fully packaged gamma imaging system. Each unit combines four Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) crystals with Kromek High-Rate (KHR) ASICs, facilitating fast and data-efficient readouts. The medium efficiency CZT (5mm thickness) is optimised for low to medium energy gammas and is suited for taking measurements in medium to high flux environments.

The entrance window of the keV-526 provides a 4.4cm x 4.4cm field of view and images via 484 pixels, each with 2mm x 2mm resolution.

The detector housing and entrance window permit easy pairing with a collimator or coded aperture.

A range of sample methodologies are possible with the keV-526, such as x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence, gamma imaging and activity analysis.

Features of the KeV 526

User-configurability

The keV-526 is user-configurable, meeting the needs of various different projects. The unit has four gain settings (240, 80, 40, 20 mV/fC) which are user selectable via API. Counts are reported per pixel and energy discriminated via up to 62 user-configured thresholds.

Output

Data output and ethernet traffic remain compact and packet size is not subject to count rate.  To maximize throughput (Counts per second [cps] in / cps out), correction algorithms are not used nor supported.  Pixel output is not energy-calibrated, and any uniformity strategy should be considered after data collection if application requires.  Each keV-526 module has demonstrated outputs exceeding 8,000 cps per pixel (over 45,000 incident cps per pixel).

Power and software

The keV-526 module is operated over ethernet via API, Windows and Linux supported.  The keV-526 API supports multiple modules (12+) via ethernet switch. The device also contains a high voltage power supply, and each module requires (via external power supply, not provided) 12-16 VDC.  keV526 is not packaged to withstand harsh environmental conditions and should be operated at room temperature (20-35C).

A Windows demonstration application is available for unit characterisation and aggregates data collection into CSV.

As software requirements differ by application, (examples: XRD, XRF, gamma imaging, activity analysis) commercial software is not offered for this module.
