High resolution gamma detector for use in raised backgrounds and with mixed sources
The Quant 4 GR1 is a complete, mobile solution for quantifying doses of gamma radiation released by radionuclides. Its high resolution of <2% and count spectrum range of 4096 channels enables any isotope to be identified and its associated dose quantified. This is possible even when isotopes are part of a complex mixture, meaning there is no need for chemical separation. Such analysis can be completed for either point sources from filter paper or distributed sources e.g. soil or liquid samples.
The ability to quantify radiation doses in real time eliminates the need for further analysis in the lab, as any data can be collected and then processed on site, saving time and costs.
The Quant 4 GR1 is much smaller than Germanium-based detectors and processes data at a much faster rate. It is also portable, and requires low power to operate, without the need to cryogenically cool the crystals before use.
Its copper-lined lead shield minimizes the contribution of background radiation to the results, ensuring the data collected is as accurate as possible. This makes the Quant 4 GR1 optimal for research or quick action in the field, especially in higher dose environments with mixed sources e.g. sites of a nuclear accident.
