What is a PRD?

Personal radiation detectors (PRDs) ultimately help keep people safe. Designed to be body-worn, PRDs passively monitor the environment of the user for increased radiation levels. They quickly indicate the presence of radioactive material(s) through alarms and measurements displayed on screen, such as count and dose data. As a result, users can act fast, minimising their and others’ exposure to harmful radioactive threats, and seizing illicit material with speed and precision.

Small, lightweight and wearable, the D3S and D3M constantly monitor surroundings for radioactive threats from a belt, UGV or vehicle. Users are instantly alerted to the presence of radioactive material with audible or tactical alarms, facilitating immediate action. The high sensitivity of the detectors ensures even the lowest levels of radiation don’t go undetected, optimising the safety of the user and their team. Operational costs are also reduced by the ability of the detectors to self-calibrate.
