Kromek’s CEO, Dr Arnab Basu, recently spoke with BBC Radio Tees about the work being done by the Kromek team and partners to make breast cancer screening technology more effective for women with dense breasts.
The new, ‘ultra-fast’ MBI technology being developed by Kromek, Newcastle Hospitals, Newcastle University and UCL is advancing current MBI technology with shorter scan times and a smaller patient effective dose.
This technology could be offered in addition to mammography for women with breast dense tissue, potentially increasing the cancer detection rate.
This month, the latest results from the project were presented at one of the world’s leading medical imaging conferences in Yokohama, Japan.
