Kromek Group plc is an international technology group (global HQ in the UK) and a leading developer and supplier of high-performance radiation detection products based on cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) and other advanced technologies. Using its technology platforms, Kromek designs and develops and produces x-ray and gamma-ray imaging and radiation detection products for the medical, CBRNe security, Homeland Security and civil nuclear radiation detection markets.

The Group’s products provide high-resolution information on material composition and structure and are used in multiple applications, ranging from the identification of cancerous tissues to hazardous materials, such as explosives, and the analysis of radioactive materials.

The Group’s business model provides a vertically integrated technology offering to customers, from radiation detector materials to finished products or detectors, including software, electronics and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs).

The Group has operations in the UK and US (California and Pennsylvania) and sells internationally through a combination of distributors, OEM and direct sales.

Dr Arnab Basu MBE

CEO

Arnab has a PhD in physics from Durham University, specialising in semiconducting sensor materials. Arnab held senior management positions in his family business, which manufactured materials for the electronics industry serving over 250 major telecommunications and consumer electronics manufacturers, including Siemens, GEC. He worked in commercial product development for Elmwood Sensors Ltd, (Honeywell Group, UK). A prominent figure within the business community, he was awarded Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ (2009) and received an MBE for services to regional development and international trade (2014).

Paul Farquhar

CFO

Paul has almost 30 years’ experience as a finance director and chief financial officer, primarily for international businesses. He was previously President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Sevcon Inc, a NASDAQ-listed designer, manufacturer and supplier of microprocessor controls for electric and hybrid vehicles. In this position, Paul established a global finance team in five countries with common financial reporting systems to meet the needs of a growing technology business and also oversaw the raising of equity and debt finance and M&A activity. Paul began his career as a chartered accountant, spending 10 years as an auditor at Jennings Johnson in Sunderland and at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Newcastle and Lisbon, Portugal.

Berry Beumer

COO

Berry is a technology business executive with extensive experience of delivering revenue growth in analytical instrument, high-frequency communications equipment and optoelectronic and semiconductor materials industries. He has held a number of senior roles while working both in Europe and the US. Previously he has held the position of Vice President in the areas of Sales and Marketing at XOS, Inc. Where he was responsible for driving the strategic direction of their x-ray elemental technology business.

Ian Radley

CTO

Ian has a BSc in Applied Physics and Chemistry from Durham University. He has nearly 35 years’ experience in scientific instrumentation and has spent the last twenty years in technology and operations management. His background includes thermal imaging sensors, superconducting magnet systems, x-ray tubes, x-ray detectors and x-ray optics. He spent 11 years in the US as operations director for Oxford Instruments X-ray Technology Group and as director of advanced product development for X-ray Optical Systems (XOS Inc.).

A global supplier of radiation detection equipment Kromek started with 2 people in an office in an incubator, Team Kromek has now grown to over 100 people in the last 15 years.
