  • Mr Richard Morgan, Chairman, is the CEO of Amphion Innovations Plc, a London and New York Based Venture Capital firm listed on AIM. Prior to his involvement in the Company, Richard was a founder and CEO of VennWorks LLC. In the course of his career, Richard has been directly involved in the start-up and development of more than 30 companies in the information technology, healthcare and biotechnology industries. These include MediSense, Sequus Pharmaceuticals, Celgene, Quidel and Vortech Data. Richard currently serves as Chairman of three Amphion Portfolio Companies (Axcess, FireStar and Motif BioSciences) and is a Director of WellGen. He is on the Board of Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ: CELG)..
  • Dr Arnab Basu, CEO, has a PhD in Physics from Durham University, specialising in semiconducting sensor materials. Dr Basu held senior management positions in his family business, which manufactured materials for the electronic industry. The business served over 250 customers in India, including Siemens, GEC and most of the major telecommunications and consumer electronics manufacturers. He has also worked for Elmwood Sensors Ltd, part of the Honeywell Group, in the UK where he was involved in commercial product development.
  • Prof Max Robinson, Founder Director, provided business angel finance in order to establish DSC. He is a highly respected academic and a pioneer, inventor and visionary in the field of 3D x-ray imaging. He has been involved in the management of the interface between academic research and the commercialisation of its findings for 25 years. He founded Image Scan Holdings plc, which listed on AIM in April 2002. Prof Robinson has recently been named as one of the top 100 academic entrepreneurs by the Times Higher Education Supplement and currently holds the position of Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and the University of Aberdeen.
  • Prof Brian Tanner, Deputy-Chairman, is Dean of Knowledge Transfer, Professor of Physics and a member of the governing Council of Durham University. With an international reputation in x-ray characterisation of materials, he has published over 350 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and is the author of 4 books. He received the 2005 Barrett Award of the International Center for Diffraction Data. Prof. Tanner holds, or has held, non-executive directorships in 5 private or publicly quoted companies.
  • Mr Jerel Whittingham, Director, is Managing Director of Amphion Innovations UK Ltd and leads Amphion's activities in the UK. He has extensive technology commercialisation expertise gained from management roles in Generic Group, Durlacher and US based VC-incubator VennWorks. His interest in technology commercialisation builds on earlier experience in R&D and then strategy development (with consultancies or in senior staff roles), including roles with Prime Strategy Consultants, BBC Corporate strategy and the office of the Director General at INMARSAT.
  • Prof. Andy Brinkman, Director, is a Reader in Physics at Durham University and an internationally renowned scientist in the field of crystal growth. He is the leader of the research group which developed the vapour phase growth technique. After completing his Ph.D. At Nottingham, Dr. Brinkman spent a brief period in Northern Nigeria, before taking up a lectureship in Durham. Dr. Brinkman's primary interests have been in the growth, characterisation and exploitation of II-VI compound semiconductors, and with the properties and uses of electroceramic materials. Much of his research has been closely allied to industry.
